Appeared as the Lieutenant

Early in WWII, a young Internal Affairs officer (Yevgeny Mironov) is escorting a trainload of captured Russian criminals back home from the front. The train is attacked, and only three survive: the officer, a thief and a political prisoner. The criminals now consider themselves free, but the officer has a different idea, and is intent on bringing them to justice. As the film goes on, however, his views on justice change. The Lieutenant was Yevgeny Mironov's first leading role in a film.
