The hectic, materialistic lives of Russian nouveau riche provide the framework for this internationally acclaimed thriller. The two protagonists, Ivan and Misha (Yevgeny Mironov), are two rubes who come to Moscow to participate in the perestroika's economic boom. Misha, a gifted computer nerd, gets a bank job for a hundred bucks a month, writing programs which Ivan is trying to crack for a lot more money. Denis Yevstigneyev's directorial debut, a winner of several film awards, is a group portrait of his generation which may be regarded as the quintessential tale of the "New Russians". Limita was the first and most penetrating insight into the roots and psychology of the "New Russian" phenomenon.

Yevgeny Mironov's recognition for the film:
  • Best Actor Award, Nika National Film Awards, 1994
