Famed Russian filmmaker Yegor Konchalovsky is seeking scripts for short vignettes that will be the basis of a movie heralding Almaty. ... He said that for Moscow, I Love You, which was released last autumn, he chose 18 vignettes out of 300 stories written. ... The director wants to make the film about Almaty differently than he did the Moscow movie. He said the Moscow team began preparing for the film without having the stories in hand. The preparatory work was difficult for them because they weren't used to the short-vignette genre, he said. It's "difficult to express and deliver your thoughts in five or seven minutes," he noted.
