Japanese distributor PIONIWA has picked up the rights for Dreaming of Space by Aleksei Uchitel, the best film of the Moscow Film Festival 2005 and winner of the Golden Eagle Award 2005.

"The exceptional description of youthful ardor had struck us, the boxing scene at the beginning in particular. Additionally, Russia is such an exotic attraction for the Japanese. The allure of the cinematography and the plot are so breathtaking. Somehow this film reminded us of My Friend Ivan Lapshin, one of our all-time favorites", – says Takashi Niwa, the CEO of PIONIWA.

The Japanese distributor has already released a few Russian movies, among them My Friend Ivan Lapshin by Aleksei Gherman, Freedom Is Paradise by Sergei Bodrov and Wind Man by Khuat Akhmetov.

Apart from Japan, Dreaming of Space has been released theatrically in the Baltic States and Taiwan and on home video and TV in various territories. The release of the film in Japan is planned for summer of 2010.
