At Mosfilm, post-scoring of the new film Phonogram of Passion, directed by Nikolai Lebedev, is underway. The leads are played by Yelena Nikolayeva, a young graduate of the State Institute for Theater Arts, and Fabio Falco, an Italian TV star.

Nikolai Lebedev describes his film Phonogram of Passion as an erotic spy thriller. The film's narrative is composed of two plots, a spy story and a love story, and will remind cinema experts of the German film The Lives of Others, where the leading character "bugs" the life of a famous playwright on orders from Special Services.

In Phonogram of Passion, a young woman (Yelena Nikolayeva) "eavesdrops" on the life of her client, a young Italian named Adam. One day she finds herself falling in love with the foreigner, though she has never seen him and has only heard his voice. Soon she understands that the aim of the surveillance is to murder Adam.

The screenplay was written in 1997. At first, actor Aleksei Serebryakov wanted to shoot it, but could not get funding and eventually lost interest, considering it outdated. But Nikolai Lebedev finds the story topical. After his film Wolfhound of the Grey Dog Clan, the director came under close media scrutiny. Reporters followed him everywhere, trying to pry into his private life. Lebedev considers such invasion of privacy unacceptable. Phonogram of Passion (the script of which he rewrote with the playwright Leonid Porokhnya) is dedicated to this subject – fear of modern society, where even ordinary people's lives can be tracked and recorded.

The film does not contain any political allusions, and the surveillance is conducted not by Special Services but by a detective agency. According to Lebedev, its aim is to make the viewers understand that invasion of privacy can be committed not only by the all-seeing eye of the State but by any person willing to pick up a camcorder and start monitoring other people's life.

Actors Sergei Garmash, Nina Usatova and Svetlana Toma also star in the film. Their voices will also be recorded at Mosfilm.
