The festival of modern art TERRITORIЯ that opens today at the Theater of Nations (Moscow) aims at finding new ways in art and presents an extensive program of theater productions, concerts, film demonstrations and workshops by world celebrities.

The TERRITORIЯ Festival was devised by Yevgeny Mironov, Kirill Serebrennikov, Chulpan Khamatova, Roman Dolzhansky, Teodor Currentzis and Andrei Urayev as a fundamentally new educational project targeted at supporting modern art. It was held last year in Moscow for the first time.

According to the head of the Theater of Nations, renowned actor Yevgeny Mironov, this year the program is no less radical, following the requests of last year's students, and focuses mainly on modern choreography.

"We have contrived to do an impossible thing, such as attracting to the Festival one of the world's legendary directors, Romeo Castellucci, with his production Tragedia Endogonidia," Yevgeny Mironov commented on the Festival's program. The viewers will also see Rite of Spring by the ballet master Heddy Maalem, and VSPRS, a new ballet of Les Ballets C de la B staged by Alain Platel.

The Festival runs through October 14.
